Australian birds
Each year at the end of summer after breeding, hundreds of thousands of silver eyes migrate northwards. They feed on fruits, seeds, nectar and insects. Their liking for soft fruit making them unpopular with orchardists but they also provide a useful service by consuming grubs and aphids. Also found in New Zealand
